The people demands a vote!
Following Saturday's day of national action, a large group of pro-EU supporters, including several activists from Wandsworth, gathered on Sunday afternoon for the kick-off of the 'People's Vote' - a new campaign which will run over the upcoming months to demand that the British people will have the opportunity to judge the UK-EU Settlement agreement based on its merits, with the option to remain in the EU if what is eventually agreed turns out to be a bad deal.
It was literally 'standing room only' as the venue was packed out to capacity, and queues stretching around the back of the building. Sir Patrick Stewart kicked off proceedings with a rousing speech that covered his difficult upbringing in the post-war years, and his hopes for the European project to bring peace across borders. Watch his speech here. MPs from all major parties spoke passionately in support for the cause, as well as representatives from medical research, business, student groups and economics.
